Some of this software can be easily found elsewhere, while some of it can no longer be found anywhere else that I know of.

Trainz Downloader Pro is a fantastic utility for downloading assets from the Trainz Download Station. It checks for, and downloads dependencies and packs also. Does not require Trainz installed on same computer.

TrainzUtil.exe v6-14-2006 888k
TrainzUtil.exe is the latest version used by Auran Trainz 2006. This file is of no use by itself, but will cause you great headache if you use the 2005 version instead of this one. You probably had this version if you installed SP1, but only until you installed TrainzMap or RailDriver… which re-installed the 2005 version.
TrainzMap is stand-alone utility for inspecting Trainz routes; generating route maps either on paper or as bitmap files; editing some of the properties of the objects and of tracks; and measuring distances along tracks
With the increasing number of custom objects being produced for Trainz it is becoming difficult to find the one you want in Surveyor. Each creator has his/her own idea about which Region their object belongs in and what its Type should be. TrainzObjectz will list all the custom and built-in objects which you have installed, tell you the Region, Type, etc. to which each has been allocated and allow you to change them (editing built-in content only available in TRS2004). TrainzObjectz will also help you sort out any duplicate KUID numbers, allow you to edit your trainzoptions.txt file, make it easy to change the keyboard shortcuts in Trainz, and (with the help of Tolaris's ObjectExplorer program) see what each object looks like. The ultimate tool for managing your custom content!

Trainz Object Explorer v0.9.92
A standalone utility capable of examining Trainz models. Features hardware-accelerated OpenGL preview and detailed information on loaded objects.
CDPSave 2006 is designed for TRS2006 users who want to save a copy of files they have downloaded (i.e. files with the .CDP extension). CDPSave 2006 will rename the files with a sensible name, and copy (or move) them to a specified location.
Paint.NET is free image editing and photo manipulation software designed to be used on computers that run Windows. It supports layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools. This program is especially useful to Trainz content creators because it supports .tga files.

MicroDEM is a freeware microcomputer mapping program written by Professor Peter Guth of the Oceanography Department, U.S. Naval Academy. It requires a 32 bit version of Windows (NT/2000/XP or 95/98/ME).
HOG® is a Trainz® terrain generation tool written by Adam Wojcieszyk, a Trainz user. It is a utility to create Trainz ".gnd" files out of ".tga" images. Once the ".gnd" file is created, it can be used to replace the ".gnd" file that Trainz includes when you create a new single-baseboard, empty layout.
Starting with a new one-baseboard layout, HOG will add as many baseboards as needed to cover the area described by the DEM image you give it. If you also supply the TIGER image, that MicroDEM created, it will paste this image on the baseboard surface.
Discreet’s gMax is a free 3D modeling and animation tool based on their award-winning 3ds max®. gMax allows gamers to create their own in-game content for gMax enabled games… Like Trainz.
Beepa Fraps is a generic tool for DirectX and OpenGL games. In its current form, it performs many tasks, including benchmarking (see how many frames per second you're getting in a corner of your screen; perform custom benchmarks and measure the frame rate between any two points; save statistics to disk and use them for your own reviews and applications); screen capturing (take a screenshot with the press of one key, with no need to paste into a paint program every time you want to capture; your screen captures also are automatically named and time-stamped); and real-time video capturing.

Trainz Tuner is an utility for Trainz Railroad Simulator 2004 (TRS2004), Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006 (TRS2006) and Trainz Classics (TC) from kreativenergy. Trainz Tuner allows you to change the maximum visible distance of about 1500 meters, to a much higher distance. It also allows you to perform some other fine tunings.
IrfanView is a very fast, small, compact and innovative freeware (for non-commercial use) graphic viewer for Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista by Irfan Skiljan.

CDP Browser 2 is a useful freeware utility created by the nice people at TrainzProRoutes.
The program lists the kuid's contained within a CDP file. This version of CDP Browser handles both the kuid format and the kuid2 format.

This TRS2004 program helps you to use change the behavior of your rolling stock and locomotives in Trainz without editing any so called config.txt files. (Both rolling stock and locomotive are often called traincar in Trainz.)

This program, by Roger Dunn, will generate a displacement file that can be used in surveyor to populate any size area with random terrain features based on how you configure the program. Nice documentation included as well.

Trainz Agent is Time Travellers’ own version of Auran's Trainz Download Helper program. It is faster than fast, does dependency checks for all assets, even for 3rd party maps. It saves CDPs to a folder of your choice, has a connection event log, a cart for building your download list, auto install, and more. *Designed for TRS2004.
This great little utility lets you repaint a large number of the various locos and rolling stock items using an intuitive 5 step process that takes just minutes to learn. For our new TRS users this will also make many more of the Download Station items compatible for your use. *Not designed for use with TRS2006.

This program is made to quickly send a lot of CDP files to Content Dispatcher in Trainz 2004. This saves you a lot of hitting the enter button after installing a bunch of CDP files.

This program is made to quickly edit config.txt files for Trainz 2004. It is intended for experienced Trainz users (content creators) only.

A find-&-replace text editor capable of batch-editing the config.txt files of Trainz assets. It can perform text operations that are not easily done in Trainzobjectz (eg. batch edits of asset 'usernames'). It can find files within sub-folders, so it only requires you to point at the main folder. Favorite find-&-replace rules can be saved. Useful for "cleaning up" the configs of multiple assets at the touch of a button. Common text operations could include:
· Making long asset titles shorter
· Renaming assets so they conform to a convention of your choosing
· Removing unnecessary quote marks from kuid numbers
· Translating selected words
· Removing unwanted config tags and the text within them
To avoid unintended errors, it is recommended that you backup your original asset files before editing them or operate only on selected assets in a folder separate from your main Trainz folders.

Finds and re-names files according to rules that you write for it, even if those files are buried within sub-folders. For example, I use ReNamer to find the thumbnail images of Trainz assets, commonly having names like image.jpg, preview.jpg, thumbnail.jpg, screenshot.jpg and re-name them all to $screenshot$.jpg to make them compatible with Trainzobjectz.

Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006 Driver Challenge (Demo)
Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006 (TRS2006) sets new standards of realism and immersion in operating a virtual railroad. FileViewer is a 3D model-viewing utility that can be used as an alternative to Trainz Object Explorer (TOE). FileViewer can view models based on either .im or .pm meshes (amongst others). The screen-capture function can automatically create a 240x180 image called $screenshot$.bmp or $screenshot$.tga in the same folder as the active mesh file. These features make it very useful to associate FileViewer with TrainzObjectz (simply open TrainzObjectz, click the Menu button, choose Program Locations, Trainz Object Explorer and browse to FileViewer314.2.exe). Note that Trainz models cannot be exported from FileViewer applications.
